Internal Surface Estimate
Pool measurements are used to estimate the sloping floor, long walls and end walls. A normal application allowance is included when product quantity is calculated.
Remember to allow separately for:
Large steps, benches, ledges, repairs and heavily porous sections.
Product-Specific Result
The selected coating system and existing surface determine whether the result uses epoxy paint only, epoxy paint plus primer or chlorinated rubber.
Chlorinated Rubber routes:
Bare concrete or render uses 3–4 coats. Compatible existing Chlorinated Rubber uses 2–3 coats. No separate primer is calculated.

Is the litres option as accurate as measuring the pool?
No. Water capacity cannot reveal the exact pool shape, wall area, steps or ledges. The volume option creates a typical rectangular model and should be treated as an approximate guide.
Which parts of the pool are included in the area estimate?
The measurement calculation estimates the internal floor and walls, including the change from shallow to deep depth. Additional features such as wide steps and benches need extra allowance.
Why can the result include both epoxy paint and primer?
Suitable bare concrete, render, pebblecrete, marbelite and plaster commonly follow the BG Pool epoxy primer-plus-paint path. Compatible fibreglass and existing epoxy recoats can display epoxy paint only.
Why do the available surfaces change when I choose the coating system?
The calculator only shows the normal surface routes for the selected system. This prevents a Chlorinated Rubber job from being mixed with epoxy-only surfaces and vice versa.
Why do the coat choices change for Chlorinated Rubber?
BG Pool Epoxy uses either 2 top coats — Standard — or 3 top coats — Recommended.
For BG Pool Chlorinated Rubber, the calculator changes the coat choices to match the existing pool surface.
Bare concrete or render uses 3 coats — Standard — or 4 coats — Recommended.
A compatible pool already painted with Chlorinated Rubber uses 2 coats — Standard — or 3 coats — Recommended.
Chlorinated Rubber is self-priming for the calculator routes shown, so no separate primer quantity is added.
What happens if I do not know what coating is already on the pool?
